The Ladies of Diversity on campus

Teresa A. Nance, Ph.D., is the Associate Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion, Chief Diversity Officer at Villanova University.

Dr. Terry Nance and I started at Villanova at the same time – me as a student, she as a communications professor. She credits me as the reason she stayed at Villanova when I twisted her arm to become our faculty advisor of the Black Cultural Society. I credit her for giving me the strength and courage to make it to graduation. She is the glue that connects many of the students and alumni of color to Villanova.  Michelle Meekins-Davis was recently named Widener University’s Chief Diversity Officer.

She is founding director of the university’s Multicultural Student Affairs Office through which she has served as a primary resource and facilitator for multicultural, cultural competence, social justice, equity and diversity related programs and workshops for students, faculty and staff.

Many of us in Chester know her affectionately as Dexter’s wife, the former Superintendent of the Chester-Upland School District.
